This catalogue was published on the occasion of Yan Pei-Ming’s solo exhibition, “Landscape of Childhood” held at Ullens Center for Contemporary Art from June to October 2009. The exhibition marked the first time the artist had experimented with producing a show without canvas, by creating an installation that juxtaposes a hand-painted mural with portraits of children depicted on flags hanging on upside down poles. Featuring 34 color plates of the immense installation created for this exhibition, the catalogue also includes an essay by curator Guo Xiaoyan and an interview with the artist conducted by Jérôme Sans.
