UCCA Beijing

Sekong Drum Music Workshop

2017.5.14
14:30-16:30

Members
Location:  Salon
Language:  Chinese only

In collaboration with GZS Music, UCCA presents a sekong drum (a Chinese traditional instrument) workshop, dedicated to all UCCA members for their continuous support.

The origin of the sekong drum can be traced back to chimes invented in Western Zhou Dynasty. The drum is made out of metal and has a melodic and rich timbre. Different strikes against the drum using hands or drumsticks yield sounds of varying textures.

During this workshop, our experienced teacher will introduce participants to the sekong drum through sound and poetry performance, thus providing a comprehensive understanding of the beauty and interactive quality of this unique instrument.
