Drawing is not only the foundation of painting, but also of all visual arts, and ultimately of perception. Come join us at UCCA on Sunday afternoons in July to draw under the guidance of an experienced teacher. You will not only gain the tools to create and understand art, but also change the way you interact with the world outside of museums.

This month UCCA is offering a set of 5 drawing classes, each one centered around a specific theme framed by certain techniques, movements in art history, or artists. The series focuses on how sketching should be used as a foundation for painting, and how to integrate color into a drawing. Each week a different medium will be introduced, including pastels and watercolors.

Our drawing class is geared towards adult students with all levels of experience. For absolute beginners, our teacher will teach you the basics of line, perspective, and contour so that you can build the necessary groundwork. For those with a background in art, you will be given the opportunity to hone your current skills and try your hand at other mediums.
