ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

Marie Hall Ets is a very important illustrator in 1930s and 1940s. She is the favorite author of Tadashi Matsui, “father of illustrator” in Japan. Her work is filled with endearing and quaint human touches, putting them at precisely the right angle to life in early childhood. She likes to play alone in the forest and listen to the wind. In her book Play With Me, she shares her understanding of nature and life.

Lin Jing is a literacy advocate and early childhood education specialist. She developed an interest in picture books after studying in Japan in 1998. When she came back to China in 2002, she combined her hobby with her professional experience as a teacher and worked as literacy advocate and early childhood education specialist. In recently years, she has been holding a lot of events such as story workshops and parenting salons in early education centers or libraries, and translated picture books at the same time. Her main works are: Brother egg (Nanhai Press), Little shoes, let’s take a walk and Faces, all kind of faces (Shanghai Children Press), etc.

The Children’s Reading Master Workshop Series is presented in cooperation with POPLAR, Japan’s largest children’s book publisher. This is a wonderful opportunity for kids and parents to experience and enjoy the work of some of the world’s finest children’s authors, illustrators and storytellers.
