About the Film

Fritz Lang

Director: Gordian Maugg

Genre: Drama

Country: Germany

Runtime: 104 min.

He is regarded as a genius, an egocentric sex maniac, and a sadist. Violence and love became Fritz Lang’s life-long subjects: in Vienna, as the son of a violent father under whom his much-loved Jewish mother suffered; as a soldier in Galicia, where he experienced the horrors of the First World War; and finally as a young director in Berlin, accused of murdering his own wife. Fritz Lang left a turbulent environment behind, allowing an investigation of a serial murder to lead him to Dusseldorf. Fritz Lang researches the "evil" in all of us and in himself. We are drawn into the middle of the tense and frightening story behind the film classic M.
